Welcome to Personal Project Finland

Personal Project is a program for young adults, who are on the brink of making big decisions affecting work, relationship, friendship, marriage and the meaning of life. Starting from the analysis of real life situations, participants are stimulated to reflect on topics such as freedom, responsibility, communication within relationships etc.

The atmosphere is informal and friendly, and this facilitates the exchange of experiences and thoughts with other participants. Thanks to this exchange, and under the guidance of well-trained moderators, participants will develop a solid foundation on which they are able to answer the questions they will encounter in life and therefore they are able to make good and responsible choices.

Personal Project is based on a vision of the human person rooted on natural philosophy and common sense. The moral issues are approached based on the natural law, that includes the values and norms of behavior that every human being recognizes by reflecting on himself and that are applicable to every person, independently of cultural differences (i.e. treat the other the same way you would like to be treated). This conception is indeed in accordance with the Christian values.

Who can attend Personal Project?

Students and young professionals in the age of approximately 20-30 years can attend this program. Personal Project is both for people in a relationship (but not yet married) and for singles.

How does the program work?

There is a pre-selected list of topics that allows participants to study, discuss and reflect on some of the most important questions in life. Each topic is carefully analyzed through three different steps:

  • step 1: Each participant studies the case on their own
  • step 2: Participants meet in smaller groups and discuss the case
  • step 3: Participants attend the general session where the case is reviewed systematically with the help of a trained moderator

What is a ‘’case’’?

A case is a description of a real life situation, presenting a problem, potentially similar to what the participants may encounter during their present/near future life. Under the guidance of the team leaders and the moderators, the participants engage in discussion, analyze the case and try to propose possible solutions. By doing this, participants are stimulated to reflect on their own life. Every participant will also take advantage of the experience of others to get tools to deal with similar situations.

Who are the moderators?

The moderators are well-trained and highly motived professionals. They are qualified to teach the participants on the topics discussed in the program. To guarantee high quality of the plenary sessions, IFFD Finland frequently invites experienced moderators from other countries to moderate the general session.
